August Telecommunications Court Case Overview
In August, 1306 class action cases were filed in US District Courts for alleged violations of the TCPA and FDCPA. This is 19% higher than August 2024.
Key Points:
- Pro Se plaintiffs: 844 cases filed this year.
- Multiple lawsuits: Concentrated in California Central, Florida Southern, Texas Northern, and Texas Western.
- Out-of-jurisdiction filings: 14 plaintiffs filed outside their specific jurisdiction.
- Top states: Florida (78 cases), California (115 cases), Texas (45 cases), Georgia (27 cases) – representing 53% of call cases in June.
- TPCA cases: 48% of June’s cases (241) included TCPA as a cause of action, the highest in any month of 2025.
- Class Action requests: 74% of TCPA cases year-to-date.
- Year-to-Date TCPA cases: 1765 cases.
If TCPA case volumes continue at this level, 2025 will see a significant increase over 2024.
